Export value of salmon from the Faroe Islands continues to grow.

During the first half of 2011, export of salmon from the Faroe Islands grew 30% in volume and 39% in value compared to the first half of 2010.
Demand from the US for big high quality salmon from the Faroe Islands continues to increase. The US is now importing close to one third of the Faroese salmon production making the US twice as big our second biggest market, Germany.
China is also showing impressive growth. In only one year, China has ballooned to become the sixth biggest market for salmon from the Faroe Islands.
Salmon from the Faroe Islands now represents more than 40% of the total export of goods making it the single biggest export product of the Faroe Islands.
